The health and safety and the satisfaction of our employees are central elements of our corporate culture. Our aim is to help maintain the health of our employees and to guarantee high standards of occupational safety and security. Our Corporate Security department bears the brunt of responsibility for this.
Safetyandsecurity at work are important risk topics in distribution logistics. We therefore review occupational safety at our sites on an annual basis and occupational safety is an integral part of the auditing process for our contractual partners.
Prevention and the promotion of health are also of central importance to us. Our employees receive a time credit of 90 minutes per year if they take part in a health check. All Otto Group employees, including Hermes employees, can take part in company sports programmes. In addition, health checks and consultations are also on offer, such as ergonomics training and social counselling, for example. And we also encourage our employees to be active by promoting environmentally-friendly mobility through the provision of hire bikes.
Hermes also relies on state-of-the-art technology to promote health protection. In autumn 2017, for example, Hermes Einrichtungs Service (HES) tested the use of the so-called Laevo exoskeleton at the dispatch centre in Löhne. It is an external support structure that supports and relieves the body when moving heavy loads and in repetitive physical tasks. Further tests in combination with transport aids are being planned.
