Hermes Transport Logistics GmbH (HTL) and Jeena & Company have agreed to expand their collaboration in sea & air freight. The two global logistics companies are looking to strengthen their networks, particularly in Germany and India. Jeena has been the Otto Group's logistics partner in India for about 30 years and has been collaborating with HTL in India since 2009. The aim is to jointly develop new business and provide clients from both companies with a premium service.
"For HTL, expanding our work together with Jeena is a natural step to position ourselves even stronger as an international logistics provider," says Eckhardt Fechtner member of the HTL executive board with responsibility for sea and air freight. "As a gateway to Asia, India is an extremely important market. This makes us all the more fortunate to have such a strong partner as Jeena at our side," adds Fechtner. Jeena is currently one of the leading logistics companies in the emerging Indian market. Recently, the company has benefit significantly from growth in the BRIC states. Like the Otto Group, Jeena is a traditional company characterised by its extensive knowledge of the market and industry in global retail trade.
"Jeena has been part of the Otto Group business in India from the very beginning," says Malcom D'souza, country head of air freight at Jeena. "We are proud to continue and build on this good relationship now with HTL. This is enabling us to turn our company into a full-service cooperation partner along the retail supply chain. And we see huge potential in becoming one of the leading providers on German-Indian trading routes." Together, HTL and Jeena are now able to serve the growing demand from German and Indian clients for international transport solutions. In addition to processing existing business, the joint effort is looking to leverage synergies in customer service and sales in future.
HTL is a central building block in the Hermes Group portfolio. With twelve companies, the Group renders all the service along the retail supply chain for clients worldwide. For HTL, the Indian market is a crucial transport market for the export of industrial goods and for importing a wide range of products in the home, living and fashion segments. In 2012, the company transported 25,500 consignment by sea and a further 22,000 consignments by air, building up is its global presence as part of its growth strategy.
